Other Moves/Strategies of Note: During Midir's second phase his wonky, staggered fire charge will always come in twos so prepare for that. just keep following the strategies of phase one, slightly altered with a few new attacks he gains and phase two should go much quicker. Basically, if you get him to second phase, you won't need a ton of hits to finish him off. Riposte for the Win: If you haven't killed Midir yet you might be surprised to learn that the last 20% of his health typically comes off with a stagger, riposte and perhaps a few more hits while he recovers. If you roll you'll be hit at the end of your roll, so just keep running. Simply sprint to the left to avoid these. ![]() Oh, the Humanity!: During Midir's second phase he has two attacks where he'll summon what appear to be purple humanities that will pursue you. Don't spend too much time or stamina hitting the foot, though, because he has an extended cooldown period after this attack and will give you time for numerous hits to his head which will actually be lying on the floor. Sprint to Midir (I start on the left to avoid the initial laser) and get to his left foot (your right). The second phase laser attack is much longer and more dangerous and he usually does it after jumping backwards twice. The sweeping laser and subsequent explosion should pass behind you and give you a chance to get in a few hits. For the first phase laser attack you'll want to approach the edge of the fire and strafe to avoid the initial laser and then sprint to his head as the fire dissipates. It's really the only time in the fight when getting underneath him is a good strategy. Sprint to the left (facing Midir) and you'll pass right underneath the attack, assuming that you recognize it fast enough.ĭealing with the Lasers: Darkeater Midir's laser attacks are perhaps the most deadly moves in his arsenal. The Sweeping Fire Attack: When Midir flies up into the air and sprays fire across the entire arena, there's actually a fairly easy way of avoiding any damage. Basically, learn to count his combos and recognize which combo it is, always dodge BACKWARDS in order to keep him in front of you and punish him when he finishes his combo. If you get on the side of his head or underneath him he'll breathe fire down. And make sure when you're punishing him that you're at his nose. Make sure you're punishing or at least returning to his head after each combo to bait him into another combo (as opposed to switching to a charge attack). You'll need to die a few times learning his combos but after a few attempts you'll be able to count his swipes. The closer you stay to Midir the less likely he is to charge you and if you don't get underneath him he will not breathe fire downwards (occasionally with lasers).Ĭount his Swipes: Midir actually has a fairly limited moveset and they're all easily recognized. Basically you want to stand right in front of Midir's mouth and dodge BACKWARDS when he bites or swipes at you. Hit Him in the Head: Not some of the time, not most of the time. ![]() ![]() So "don't summon" isn't "git gud" advice, it's actually a strategy for taking the boss down easier. ![]() With a summons (or three) you won't be able to hold his aggro and that will make the fight much harder. It's actually a lot of fun to do with friends so if that's how you enjoy the game, go ahead and summon BUT be aware that the easiest method for killing Midir involves baiting out his bites and swipes and to do so he MUST be facing you at all times. I'll try to be a bit more thorough in explaining the strategy.ĭon't summon: I know people love to co-op and there's certainly nothing barring you from summoning for this fight. There's still a barrage of "help me" posts and it seems like the comment sections are practically identical in their advice: don't summon and make sure you're hitting him in the head. Darkeater Midir is a monster of a boss fight and can be incredibly difficult depending on how you approach it.
